Over the next several months we’ll use this space to keep you posted as we work to create Crooked, a documentary telling the stories of the music, musicians and instrument makers who live and work along the Crooked Road.
The Crooked Road is Virginia’s heritage tourism route the runs through the Southwest corner of the Commonwealth, home to generations of front porch musicians and centuries of handmade music. While the music has been a part of American life and culture for hundreds of years, it remains largely unexplored in contemporary documentary film.
Crooked began as a student film, and with the support of scores of music-lovers, it is growing into a full documentary-length exploration of a fascinating part of American culture past and present.
